The Serbian Biogas Association (SBA), established in 2012, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting biogas as a renewable energy source. With over 50 members, it collaborates with national and international institutions, actively supporting the development and utilization of the biogas in Serbia.

SBA's vision is to strengthen and stabilize the biogas sector by empowering its members through information and knowledge sharing. The association's goals include proactive communication, continuous member training, collaboration with relevant institutions, experience transfer, business networking, and advisory services.

SBA conducts various activities, such as seminars, presentations, and publications, to educate and engage its members. It also encourages responsible environmental behavior, secures resources, and fosters collaborations with national and international partners, universities, schools, and professional associations.

The Serbian Biogas Association is a model of good practice in sustainable development, actively shaping the landscape of renewable energy in Serbia through empowerment, education, and strategic partnerships.

The Serbian Biogas Association is an active partner of German Biogas Association, Fachverband Biogas e.V. and a member of the European Biogas Association (EBA).

Results/lessons learnt:

Knowelage transfer has faciliated continuous learning among SBA members and contributed building a foundation for sustainable practices. The encouragement of scientific research and responsible environmental behavior has led to a more informed and environmentally conscious biogas sector. The association's outreach activities have contributed to raising awareness of the relevance of biogas for environmental conservation. The establishment of collaborations with national and international partners, universities, schools, and professional associations underscores the importance of a holistic approach to bioenergy development.
