Description:
The general objective of the project was to evaluate and strengthen the development capacity of the intelligent bioeconomy ecosystem in Covasna County (Romania) for sustainable development through the involvement of local communities, economic actors and local public administration.
The toolkit was developed to support actions to promote social participation in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of strategies, programs and/or activities to improve population health. The toolkit has been developed especially for decision-makers and professionals in local public administration, as well as for those in sectors with an impact on sustainable development at the local community level.
NGOs could also capitalize on this set of tools for at least two objectives: firstly to support the promotion of social participation during the policy-making process in the field of sustainable development; and secondly to promote social participation in their own projects.
Why is this toolkit useful?
The transition to creating sustainable communities can be difficult, requiring the involvement of as many community members as possible, and this will depend on a shared vision and belief that it will work at the local level.
The benefits of this activity in the short term may include energy and cost savings, community cohesion, innovation and energy from new ideas, and in the long term, sustainability action is urgently needed to meet the needs of the earth, the local community and for future generations to come.
