Description:
“Towards a National Circular Economy Strategy for Hungary” to support the development of a national circular strategy and action plan by 2040. This strategic framework identifies priority areas within the circular economy, one area being the biomass and food industry. The tool provides policy recommendations to manage materials more sustainably, reduce environmental impacts, and enhance economic values trough lower materials consumption, foster eco-innovation, create green jobs, and reduce dependency on imported raw materials.
The framework assesses the challenges faced in Hungary such as linear waste management, missed opportunities in food and agricultural waste, low resource productivity, lagging eco-innovation, underutilised biomass among other to grasp a clear picture. Evaluating potentials and ways to unlock them such as the country’s abundant resources, 2030/35 Waste Targets and sector specific opportunities for circularity.
