Description:
The working group is operated under the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, Priority Area 8: Competitiveness of Enterprises. It was created because of the large importance of circular bioeconomy for the Danube Region. The most important aspects regarding the further development of circular bioeconomy in the Danube Region are considered to be the promotion of circular bioeconomy principles and way of living among the general public, a change in the educational system and therefore skills and competencies, as well as the encouragement of linkages among SMEs and R&D organizations.
The main objectives are to:
- Support enterprises in the field of circular economy and bioeconomy
- Strengthen and scale up the circular and biobased sectors, unlock investments and markets
- Focus on the sectors that use most resources and where the potential for circularity is high such as: electronics and ICT, batteries and vehicles, packaging, plastics, textiles, construction and buildings, food, water and nutrients
- Promote education, training and skills across the circular economy and bioeconomy
- Encourages and supports pilot actions for the deployment of circular economy and bioeconomy in rural, coastal and urban areas
The working groups is organizing study tours to exchange best practices, different events for promoting circular bioeconomy and implement awareness campaigns among SMEs and general public.
