Description:

Model forest concept is defined as a collaborative process based on partnership through which individuals and groups of different interests work together, according to a common vision, for the sustainability of landscapes where forests are an important feature. In addition to the above, the exchange of experiences, knowledge and partnership contribute to global environmental goals. In a Model Forest, participants representing different interests and attitudes create an impartial partnership with the desire to achieve the goal of managing their own natural resources in a way that is acceptable to them, taking into account their economic situation, cultural identity for future generations. In Serbia, this process included cooperation with different stakeholders in the area of Golija and Obedska bara and process of establishing Model Forest concept and development of different strategic plans from bottom to up.
